Dave grew up in rural Northern California, where he developed an early passion for music and became an accomplished pianist. As a young musician, he was recognized as a Featured Young Artist, performing as soloist with the Paradise Symphony Orchestra, and in a recorded performance of the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Pacific Union College Orchestra. His early years were shaped by a blend of music, faith, academics, and service — influences that would later guide both his pastoral and medical work.

He studied music and theology at California State University, Chico, and Pacific Union College, earning a bachelor’s degree in theology. After years serving as a pastor, educator, author, and international speaker, he pursued medical training, earning his MD from Ross University School of Medicine and completing his clinical training in Los Angeles, where he worked with diverse patient populations in a variety of clinical settings. He will begin residency training in family medicine this July.

Dave is married to Laura, the love of his life for over 30 years. She is a physical therapist, an advocate for wildlife and forests, and the director of Priest Lake Kids Camp.

When they’re not working in the hospital, clinic, home health, or Kids’ Camp, they spend time at their wilderness cabin on a historic homestead shared with two horses and a cat. There, they enjoy hiking, biking, paddleboarding, canoeing, and water skiing.
